Handyman — Longueuil

Longueuil, QC, Canada

This job is also open in: Gatineau · Laval · Montréal (East) · Montréal (West)

Handyman · Longueuil

You love fixing things, and you love it done right.

We take care of the rest.

Our members trust us with the small jobs around their homes: a door that sticks, trim to put up, a hole in the drywall, caulking to redo, a shelf to install. We're looking for someone handy and reliable to do them the way we'd do them at our own place. This position covers Longueuil.

  • $26/h
  • 35 guaranteed hours from day one
  • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday
  • Van provided

Your typical day

A day like any other (and no two are alike)

Just an example to give you an idea: the times between stops vary from day to day.

The night before

Tomorrow's schedule is already on your phone: addresses, planned work, the client's notes. No surprises.

8 a.m.

You leave home in the van and head straight to your first client. No detour through a garage.

First stop

At Mrs. Tremblay's in Old Longueuil: the bedroom door sticks and the kitchen trim is coming loose. You protect the floor, adjust, reglue, clean up. You take your photos in the app, she signs, and you move on to the next one.

Second stop

A hole in the basement drywall in Saint-Hubert. You patch it and let the client know you'll be back the next day for the sanding.

Noon

Lunch.

Afternoon

At a Club member's home, you take care of the small jobs flagged during their inspection: caulking the tub, tightening handles, securing shelves. You note anything you noticed along the way: the office will follow up.

Something unexpected?

The client asks for something that wasn't planned. You call the call centre, which checks and adjusts. You don't have to haggle over a price on the doorstep.

4 p.m.

Day done. You head home with the van. Your report is done in the app, your photos too. Your evening is yours.

A Beau-frère à louer handyman leaves home in the morning, toolbox in hand, in front of the van

Your trade

What you do

  • A variety of small jobs in the homes of our clients and members: repairing, adjusting, installing, assembling, caulking, redoing finishes
  • A different home every day, in your area
  • The work flagged during Club inspections, so the promises made to members are kept
  • Your reports and photos in our app, on your phone

Handyman, handywoman, maintenance worker, odd-job person: whatever you call it, it's the same trade. Fixing, adjusting and maintaining homes, for people who count on you.

What you don't do

Selling, quoting, finding clients, managing your schedule. And no electrical or plumbing work: that's not our trade.

FAQ

Your questions

What people ask us most often about this job.

Yes, if you've proven yourself elsewhere. We look at what you've done from start to finish, at home or for family and friends. Send us photos of your projects, then show us what your hands can do at the hands-on trial.

Yes, you bring your tools: we send you the basic list ahead of time. To help, we give you $400 a year to maintain, replace or add to them. The van and your work clothes are provided.

Your 35 hours are paid anyway. Slow hours go to your training, shadowing an experienced co-worker, van maintenance and inspections of our members' homes.

Never. No selling, no quotes: your schedule is prepared by our call centre. If a client asks for something else on site, you call the office and they take care of it.

What you do handle is the invoice: at the end of the visit, you create it on site in the Beau-frère à louer app and hand it to the client.

No. You keep it at home so you can head straight to your first client in the morning, but it's for work only. A trip log is kept from day one.

A 2-minute form with photos of your projects. A 15-minute call to get to know each other. A one-hour hands-on trial near you (at our Laval warehouse for the Montréal area): a few small, real tasks with your hand tools. Then an offer, all in under two weeks.
